ANDERSON, Calif. -

A Safeway in Anderson, along with the Salvation Army, held a canned food drive on Friday to help both victims of the Clover fire and the firefighters battling it.

The idea started with an employee, who decided that Safeway needed to do something in response to the blaze. Erica Sager pitched the idea and Safeway agreed to host the food drive.

"This is a really big need in our community and these are our customers and we need to help them," said Sager about the food drive. "So I got the go ahead, I called the Salvation Army and we partnered up the same day and we had all the buckets out to help."

On Friday, shoppers and employees dropped off water and canned food items. If you would like to donate too, you can call the Salvation Army at (530) 222-2207.
