REDDING, Calif. -

A teen was arrested for vandalism at Shasta High School, just hours before the start of the new school year.

Police say four people were at the school in Redding around 12:30 a.m. Monday.  They were throwing beer bottles in the street and at the school.

Two windows of the school were broken, a 5-foot window and a 2-foot window.

A security officer heard the commotion and called police.  An officer contacted three of the subjects.  The fourth suspect, an 18-year-old man, tried to run, but was caught and arrested.  Damage to the school was estimated at about $1,000.

The suspect's name was not immediately released.
