MANTON, Calif. - Missing persons Eric Eide, 54, and Camille Kober, 52, were found dead on Friday, more than three weeks after they were reported missing.
No evidence of foul play or a possible crime was found at the scene and during the week of their disappearance, a large storm came through the area with heavy rain and snow. Due to the evidence found near the subjects, police believe that Eide and Kober became disoriented when darkness fell and the temperatures began to drop.
Eide and Kober were reported missing in Manton on Dec. 24 when Eric Eide's mother filed the missing persons report.
The couple was last seen on Dec. 21 by a PG&E employee on Volta Powerhouse Road in Manton. The Shasta County Search and Rescue Team and the California Highway Patrol helicopter searched the area but found nothing at the time.
The PG&E helicopter personnel spent additional time during their normal air patrol to look in the powerhouse area looking for the missing subjects. While on patrol, they found an orange piece of cloth or plastic in the dense foliage of the PG&E property which the Sheriff's Office believed belonged to the missing subjects.
Early Friday morning a search was organized and Eide and Kober were located.
