REDDING, Calif. - On soggy Northstate fields, the favorites found their footing in opening round NSCIF football action Thursday. West Valley, Anderson and Pleasant Valley posted highlighted wins to set up their second round games.
In Division II play, Pleasant Valley High School set up a rematch of this year's Almond Bowl, drubbing Enterprise 32-3 in Chico. The Vikings meet Chico High School next Friday night at a site to be determined. The Panthers had a bye this week.
In Division III action, Northern Athletic League champions West Valley rolled to a 35-7 win over Lassen. They meet the Anderson Cubs, who shut out University Prep 34-0. Anderson's lone loss in league play this season came at the hands of West Valley, who have won six straight after starting out 0-4 in non-league play,
In 8-man semi-final action, Princeton beat Greenville 46-24. The Eagles will play next against the winner of Friday night's Big Valley-Los Molinos matchup.
East Nicolaus remains unbeaten after winning their DIV opener over Williams, 46-13. They will play the winner of Friday night's Trinity-Colusa game in Weaverville.
