Woman arrested after firing shots at ex-boyfriend

REDDING, Calif. - A Lakehead woman was arrested after firing shots at her ex-boyfriend off of Flanagan Road in Redding.

On Thursday at around 1:30 p.m., Amanda Stafford, 32, called police saying she had just shot at her ex-boyfriend, John Torres, 31. Stafford told dispatchers she had ran from Torres as he was armed also.

The incident took place on the 17000-block of Flanagan Road in Redding.

Torres had also contacted police to tell them that Stafford had fired shots at his unoccupied car. When he attempted to approach Stafford's Jeep SUV, Torres said that Stafford tried to run him over.

Torres told police that he broke out the passenger side window of Stafford's Jeep as she fired a shot at him. Torres was not hit with a bullet, but he was struck in the shoulder with an unknown fragment of glass or plastic from Stafford's car.

Deputies from the City of Shasta Lake, Patrol Operations, and Major Crimes responded and searched numerous buildings and trailers on the Flanagan Road property until they found Stafford and took her into custody a short distance from the residence.

Her .38 caliber handgun was also located near where she was found. The investigation revealed that Torres was not armed at the time of the incident.

Stafford was arrested for weapon and assault charges. She is being held in lieu of $50,000.00 bail.
