MT. SHASTA, Calif. -

Mount Shasta Ski Park isn’t waiting for the weekend’s snowstorm.

Park workers started making snow last night.

The ski park ran 18 of their snow guns for about 12 hours last night.

Officials say they need temperatures below 26 degrees for them to make snow.

Last night the temperature hit 9 degrees allowing the ski park to make enough snow for almost 12 hours.

The park is focusing its snow making efforts on their terrain park and their new snow tube park.

They plan to add an additional two snow guns to their arsenal tonight, for a total of 20.

If everything goes as planned, officials say they hope to open for the season on Dec. 15.
