CHICO, Calif. -

A Chico jewelry store was robbed Thursday at approximately 5:00 a.m.  The entire robbery was caught on surveillance video from four cameras inside The Jewelry Box on Mangrove Avenue.

The video shows four people breaking through the glass door and smashing glass cases and taking handfuls of jewelry.  All four suspects had their faces covered with hoods and were wearing gloves. The entire robbery took approximately one minute before the four left through the broken front door.

The jewelry store specializes in custom-made jewelry, crafted onsite.  Geralyn Sheridan, who owns the store, estimated the total loss, including jewelry and the broken glass cases, at $50,000.  Sheridan is insured for the loss.

Sheridan said it's unlikely the Chico Police Department's new policy of no longer responding to alarms without verification of a crime would have made a difference in this particular case.

"It happened so quickly," she said. "They knew what they were doing."
