REDDING, Calif. -

Firefighters battled a two-alarm house fire on Washington Ave., just off of Park Marina Dr. in Redding.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, the fire had burned a quarter of the house, forcing the firefighters to call for help.

Most of Redding's firefighting resources were assigned to the incident.

The fire investigator at the scene said there may have been multiple family pets inside of the home. The homeowner was at the scene and was distraught.

Redding Fire said they were planning on helping the family with temporary housing.

The fire was originally dispatched as a cooking fire and the homeowner told firefighters that she had left bacon in the oven while making a short trip.

The official cause of the fire is not known.
