Sun Country Quilters of Red Bluff is giving Mother's Day gifts to women who may not have families of their own.
The Sun Country Quilters started 15 years ago and they focus on different events throughout the year. For the past 10 years, the organization has donated quilts every Mother's Day.
The group is donating about 50 quilts this Mother's Day – half of them to Red Bluff Health Care and the other half to Brentwood Nursing Home.
Sun Country Quilters Co-Chair, Patricia Brink said the group wants to remind those that may not have family on Mother’s Day that they are important.
“We want them to feel that they are loved and remembered,” said Brink. “That they're still a person, that someone is interested in them and their welfare.”
The group is made up of volunteers. They meet each Monday morning to work on quilts with fabrics donated by guild members.
Each quilt is made in its own way and group members said it is rare for quilts to look the same.
The Sun Country Quilters donate quilts for other events throughout the year as well.
