REDDING, Calif. -

Redding police closed multiple streets in the area of South City Park Monday while they investigated a suspicious package at the public library.

The package, described as a hard suitcase, was found by a security guard on the west side of the library.

The Shasta County Sheriff's Office deployed their bomb squad and utilized their tactical robot to determine that the empty suitcase was not a threat.

The following streets were closed but have now reopened: Market at Parkview, Parkview to Grape, Parkview at Lanning, and Grape at Cypress.

All areas around South City Park were closed but are now open.
