RED BLUFF, Calif. -

A Red Bluff High School teacher has been arrested on charges he sent inappropriate text messages to a 17-year-old female student.

Kenneth Wayne Binder, 42, teaches auto shop at the school.

According to police, the school's resource officer, Aaron Murray, was first contacted at around 1:00 p.m. on Monday afternoon by the assistant principal, after she received information that a teacher was having an inappropriate relationship with a minor student.

Officer Murray, along with two detectives, began investigating immediately, and discovered Binder was sending inappropriate text messages to the student, according to a news release.

At 4:12 p.m. on the same day, Officer Murray arrested Binder on-campus on a charge of sending harmful matter to a minor. He is being held on $15,000 bail.
