CHICO, Calif. -

Chico police said a teen was hit on the corner of East Lassen and Monterey Street, and raising concerns for some neighbors.

Roland Jesters lives on Monterey Street and has a four-year-old son that rides his bike frequently in front of their home.

"They zip through here at 45-50 miles per hour," said Jesters.  "We don't let him ride on the street because it's too dangerous out here."

Chico police say that a teen was riding his bike with a friend when he got hit around 3:15 p.m.

"It was in the middle of the roadway but the juvenile was taken to Enloe Medical Center for minor injuries," said Sergeant Scott Zuschin.

Police say a 56-year-old man was behind the wheel and no alcohol or drugs were involved.

"Drivers should pay special attention to bicyclists on the roadway," said Zuschin.

Jesters adds that he and his neighbors want to have speed bumps installed on Monterey street to slow down drivers.
