A Bay Area teenager is recovering after he was hit by a train, while riding his motorcycle.

It happened at around 1pm Sunday on McCoy Road between Red Bluff and Cottonwood.
Joey Cassidy, 15 of Oakley, was out riding his motorcycle with his grandfather and friend who are both from Cottonwood.

They told KRCR News Channel 7 they came down off a hill next to the tracks and that's when Cassidy was struck from behind by the train.

The victim's friend Michael Danburg said Cassidy apparently never saw the train coming.

"We were coming from over here on the tracks and we were just riding right up here and didn't even look for a train," said Danburg.  "I was right in front of him, I had got off at the last second and turned around and seen him get hit.  It didn't look too good at first but then he came back. He was unconscious and he came back."

Danburg says it's likely that Cassidy broke his ankle and suffered other minor injuries

He was air-lifted to an area hospital.  The full extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.
