RED BLUFF, Calif. -

A Tehama County couple was arrested for grand theft after an alleged rental scam.
Michael Armsdon, 47, and Connie Armsdon, 32, both of Red Bluff, were arrested Tuesday after deputies say they pretended to be the owner of a residence in Cottonwood.

Tehama County deputies said the Armsdons charged a woman $2,000 as a security deposit to rent the property.

The victim 28-year-old Erzsebert Doughty of Redding reported the incident in late November.

She told deputies the Armsdons falsely represented themselves as the owner of a residence in Cottonwood.  Investigators said the Armsdons do not own and did not have permission from the owner to rent the residence.
