Tehama County Sheriff wins statewide award
Sheriff Dave Hencratt has won the California State Association of Counties or C-SAC Challenge Award for his work in starting the Tehama County Auto Shop program.
The award recognizes ideas that go beyond the normal thought process for running a county.
Tehama County’s auto shop helps the county save money by maintaining police and fire vehicles.
But the ideas don’t stop there, Hencratt spoke of a new wood shop being organized to repair desks, chairs and cabinets used in Tehama County government buildings.
The wood shop, as well as the auto shop, will be run by inmates as part of their work release.
Tehama County will present their ideas at the C-SAC annual conference held November 19 through 22 in San Jose.
