RED BLUFF, Calif. - Wes Crane, 83, has been going door-to-door selling raffle tickets to raise money for Poor and the Homeless, or PATH, a Tehama County-based nonprofit that helps the homeless. So far he has raised $4,000.
"If somebody doesn't do it, it won't get done," laughed Crane. "It's been a total pleasure doing this."
Crane is raising the funds to go towards a woman's shelter in Red Bluff. Food costs, utilities and rent are all covered by PATH, which comes to nearly $50,000 annually.
"Some of the homeless people have become my best friends," added Crane.
The shelter is hoping to raise $20,000 with tickets at $10 a piece. Crane said he won't stop until every one of the 2,000 tickets are sold.
