RED BLUFF, Calif. - Friends speaking on behalf of the mother gave KRCR News Channel Seven have a picture of the seven-month-old baby who died suspiciously over the weekend in Red Bluff.
The Tehama County Sheriff's Office said Dylan Miller's death could be a case of child abuse.
They still haven't made any arrests but took the mother's boyfriend into custody on unrelated charges. Officials said the boyfriend had violated the terms of his parole but would not go into specifics.
Charlotte Taylor and Mike Miller, friends of the Dylan's mom, said, "she came home from work on her lunch break and she came home to her worst nightmare." They told us it was even more of a tragedy because it happened on Mother's Day.
The Sheriff's Office said she found her son not breathing in his crib and called 9-1-1 moments later.
Investigators said there was only one person home with the child at the time, the mother's boyfriend, who is not the baby's father.
Taylor and Miller told us their friend is a "very good mom. Very good. She loved that baby."
They said now she's working to face the reality of her 7-month-old infant's passing.
"He was such a happy sweet baby... Always happy. Just the cutest little toothless smile you could ever see," Taylor said.
An autopsy was conducted earlier this week, but officials said they're waiting on a few other tests before they can give an official cause of death.
If you'd like to help the family of baby Dylan, there are donation jars setup at Wendy's on Main Street in Red Bluff and the AM/PM on South Main Street in Red Bluff.
