RED BLUFF, Calif. - An online fundraising account to hire a private investigator has been created in Marysa Nichols' name.
Nichols was 14 years old when she was found dead behind Red Bluff High School in February. Her biological father, Ricky Nichols, and some of his family members have created a gofundme.com account to try and raise money to hire a private investigator to look into Marysa's death.
Ricky Nichols said the group is not totally convinced that police have the right guy.
"I don't believe that this has been a thorough investigation at this point in time," Nichols said.
Red Bluff Police Chief Paul Nanfito responded to the criticism.
"I'm 100 percent confident in that investigation," Nanfito said. "I'm very confident that we have the right suspect and there is nothing so far in the investigation that suggests that there's a second or any other additional suspects."
The suspect Nanfito is referring to is Quentin Bealer, who will appear in court in June. Nanfito said the court process is a lengthy one and that there are a lot of facts that have not been released yet.
"There's a scheduled preliminary hearing where I believe much more details will come out during that process," Chief Nanfito said.
Ricky Nichols said he wants his own private investigator so he can get all his questions answered.
"I want to make sure that they have the right person," he said.
