Red Bluff man pleads not guilty in the death of fiance's 1-year-old son

RED BLUFF, Calif. - The Tehama County man charged in connection with the death of his fiance's 1-year-old child pleaded not guilty in court on Tuesday.

13-month-old David Di Dio died in September under suspicious circumstances.

His mother, Isabelle Rios, and her fiance, Daniel Llamas, were arrested and charged with child abuse resulting in death in May.

Both Rios and Llamas have made bail and are now out of custody.

Llamas' entered a not guilty plea on Tuesday morning and Rios pleaded not guilty June 10.

Lllamas' attorney asked the judge to lower the bail amount to make it easier to pay his bond amounts, but the judge denied the request.

Rios' son, David, was taken to a Red Bluff hospital in September because he wasn't breathing. He died of internal injuries.

After that, an investigation was launched, which led to Llamas and Rios' arrests in May.

They will both be back in court next month for preliminary hearings.
