Tentative plan for Shasta County marijuana grows, moves forward

REDDING, Calif. -

After hours of public comment, the planning commission passed a revision of the marijuana ordinance in Shasta County.

The changes to the ordinance were passed Thursday by a 3-2 vote.

This ordinance will now be sent to the Shasta County Board of Supervisors for final approval.

Regulations under the ordinance are as follows:

Gene Parham, one of the planning commissioners, explains his reason why he felt changes to the previous ordinance needed to be made.

"I heard it several times tonight, it makes criminals out of people who have a legal right to grow because they can't afford the new concept of a building that's secured," said Parham.
