Donning pink and slipping on cowboy boots, all for a good cause. An auction for Tough Enough to Wear Pink’s fundraising event was held at the Growney Ranch in Red Bluff Tuesday afternoon.
The breast cancer fundraiser kicked off ahead of the fast approaching Red Bluff Round-Up Rodeo, set to start Friday and run through Sunday.
“This is the eighth year the Tough Enough to Wear Pink program has been in Red Bluff,” said Director of the Red Bluff Round-Up Jolene Kemen.
Tuesday’s rotary sponsored auction was to benefit breast cancer awareness and testing. All money raised from the auction will go to the St. Elizabeth Imaging Center to aid those who need testing.
"We've used the funds over the years, which is close to $240,000, for new equipment, to provide mammograms to disenfranchised women and to genuinely help prevent this disease,” Kemen stated.
During Sunday’s Red Bluff Round-Up festivities, a Polaris Ranger 570 EFI will be live auctioned to the highest bidder. Funds from the Ranger sale will also go toward giving women mammogram exams.
“Early detection is the key,” Kemen explained.
Organizers say they would love to see the stand filled with pink for Sunday’s Tough Enough to Wear Pink event.
