CHICO, Calif. -

Police have arrested two people for their alleged involvement in the stabbing death of a man outside a downtown Chico mini-mart early Sunday morning.

Officers responded to the call of a fight in the parking lot of the 7-Eleven just after 12:30 a.m.

They arrived to find an unidentified 44-year-old man with stab wounds to his upper body and head. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Witnesses told officers they saw the man fighting with another man and a woman.

Less than a block away, police arrested 23-year-old Stephanie Vogel, who witnesses identified as being involved in the fight.

After further investigation, police arrested 29-year-old Joshua Epstein Sunday morning around 8 a.m. near the intersection of E 1st Avenue and Mangrove.

Police said both suspects are known Chico area transients. They were booked into the Butte County Jail on charges of murder, with bail set at $1 million.

Detectives think there may be other witnesses out there with more information, and are asking anyone who saw the fight to contact the Chico Police Department.
