Update: Panther Fire now at 6,705 Acres, 20% Containment
Cal Fire has updated the size of two fires are burning in the rural foothill areas near the Tehama-Butte County line near Butte Meadows.
As of Friday morning the Panther Fire in Tehama County had burned 6,705 acres. It is 20 percent contained.
The Panther Fire is 8 miles north of Butte Meadows near the 140K Line.
CAL FIRE said the fire started around 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. It has 97 engines, 58 hand crews, 13 helicopters, 21 bulldozers, three air tankers, and 34 water tenders assigned. A total of 1,268 firefighters are assigned to it.
There are no evacuations or road closures in effect and the fire is in a very rural area.
Another fire, located near the 10E Line, is called the Cedar Fire. As of Saturday morning it had burned 72 acres and is 90 percent contained.
In Glenn County, the 306 Fire stands at 217 acres and is 90% contained. The fire is burning about two miles south of Elk Creek.
