A shooting in Gridley Friday night sent two men to the hospital and a suspect is in custody.
The shooting took place at 10:30 last night on Alexander Avenue.
Two men were treated at the scene for gunshot wounds and sent to the hospital.
A short distance away, sheriff's deputies located the suspect, 24-year-old Garrett Rudd, who told dispatchers he acted in self-defense.
They found the firearm used in the shooting and several rounds of ammo in his vehicle.
The victims' family tells KRCR that one man was shot in the back and the bullet narrowly missed his spine, where it became lodged.
Fortunately, both injuries to the men are not life threatening.
The family also says Rudd is frequently in the area, although they're not sure he lives there.
Rudd was booked in the Butte County Jail on charges of Assault With a Deadly Weapon.
His bail is set at $200,000.
