Unemployment Across the Northstate Drops Rapidly
Unemployment numbers in the North State are as low as they have been since the recession.
Here are the unemployment numbers released by the State on May 17:
- Shasta County: 13.6% Jan. 11.1% April
- Tehama County: 13.8% Jan. 11.8% April
- Butte County: 12.7% Jan. 10% April
Some of the numbers are seasonal, but Labor Market Research Analyst Sheila Scott said the numbers still indicate a recovering economy.
Scott, who works at the State Employment Development Office in Redding, said we are not back at pre-recession levels yet, but we are slowly improving.
Shasta County's unemployment peaked at 14.2 percent in April 2009.
