Monday Fire Update: Panther Fire Burns 6,864 acres, 60% Contained
As of 6:45 a.m. Monday, CAL FIRE reports the Panther Fire is now 60% contained.
A CAL FIRE spokesman said three firefighters suffered minor injuries and were treated and released from the hospital.
There are currently 1,811 total personnel working on the fire as well as, 131 engines, 57 hand crews, 7 helicopters, 40 water tenders and 261 overhead personnel.
The estimated cost to date of the fire is $6,604,520.
CAL FIRE said the fire remains in the Mill Creek and Deer Creek drainages. There is no longer a imminent structure of infrastructure threat.
The area between Highway 22 and Highway 36 known as the Deer Creek and Mill Creek Recreation Area as well as the Ishi Wilderness are closed to the public. Highway 32 and Highway 36 will remain open but be aware of the heavy fire equipment traffic on those highways.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
