REDDING, Calif. -

One-year ago, a Northstate soldier lost his life in Afghanistan.

On Friday, there was an emotional tribute in his memory at the Northern California Veterans Museum and Heritage Center in Redding.

It was a tribute to fallen soldiers. One of them was United States Army 1st Lieutenant Sean Jacobs, a Foothill High School graduate.

His mother and father were there as veterans paid their respects.

Friday’s ceremony was all efforts on the part of the Tribute to Fallen Soldiers organization. The northwest chapter rolled into Redding on their way down the Pacific coast.

They are carrying a memorial torch with them during the 1,800-mile journey.

The 23-year-old Jacobs was killed by an IED blast near Kandahar on July 26, 2012.
