Winn Aung, 10, sets new record times at Sierra Nevada Junior Olympics
Redding's own national record-breaking swimmer took to the water again this weekend, and accomplished more amazing feats.
According to Redding Ducks Swim Team coaches, 10-year-old Winn Aung set several Junior Olympics meet records this weekend at the Sierra Nevada Junior Olympics at the Redding Aquatic Center.
He set new marks in the 50, 100, 200, and 400-meter freestyle competitions, according to swim coach Mike Hoppe, who said many of Aung’s times were better than the next-highest age group.
In the 400-meter freestyle competition, Aung finished 48-seconds ahead of his next closest competitor.
According to Redding Swim Team coaches, some other local accomplishments this weekend include 16-year-old Spencer Reed taking the top-seed in the 400-meter freestyle competition. Jamie Pincin, 15, finished in first-place in the girls’ 100-meter freestyle meet.
