A lot of dirt is being pushed around on the Pioneer Continuation High School campus in Redding as work starts on a $3 million improvement project.
Principal Els Prigmore said she can hardly wait to see the plans become a reality just outside her office door.
A $3 million building will house a science lab, an industrial arts area and new classrooms and offices.
Buildings that the new project will replace have water damage, holes in the floor and more problems. The office was a modular building installed in the 1960s and it was only supposed to be temporary.
Superintendent Jim Cloney said that there is a direct connection between the school environment and learning.
Although earth is already being moved, there is an official groundbreaking set for Friday afternoon. The new Pioneer High School building should be ready for students next fall.
