Man Accused of Shooting at Neighbor; Motive Unclear

WEED, Calif. - A man was shot by one of his neighbors Saturday morning while he was driving in his car.

Siskiyou County Deputies said that on Saturday at 7:45 a.m., they received reports of shots fired in the Shasta Vista subdivision, an area northeast of Weed.

When deputies arrived, they learned that a man had been shot several times by a neighbor, Luc Niles, 32, who has an Antioch address but lives in the neighborhood.

The victim did not receive any life-threatening injuries.

Deputies arrested Niles on charges of attempted murder, felon in possession of a firearm, and felon in possession of ammunition.

Officials also said two other suspects were arrested for being accessories to the crime.

It's unknown what the motive for the shooting was, although deputies said the two neighbors did know each other. The case is still under investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office (530) 841-2900.
