REDDING, Calif. - A shooting early Tuesday morning in Shasta County left a man critically injured with a gunshot wound to the chest.
It happened around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at a home on Golden Trail West, off of Bear Mountain Road in the Jones Valley area, northeast of Redding.
Deputies located a white male adult with gunshot wounds to the chest. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he has entered surgery and was in critical condition.
Deputies did not release his name.
The case is being investigated by the Shasta County Sheriff's, Major Crimes Unit. The motive and identity of the assailant is unknown at this time.
