Man hit by car on Highway 99, breaks both legs

CHICO, Calif. - A Paradise man was arrested early Wednesday for felony DUI after hitting a man on Highway 99 in Chico.

The collision happened around 2:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Highway 99 just north of the Skyway in south Chico.

According to the CHP said the 27-year-old man from Auburn broke both legs in the accident.  Officers found him lying in the road in front of the car.

The driver of a 1997 Honda, identified as a 50-year-old man from Paradise, told officers that he had been drinking earlier.  The driver's name was not immediately released.

The officer determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol during the collision.
