PARADISE, Calif. - The search for a missing Paradise woman ended in tragedy Saturday morning after her body was found not far from where search and rescuers were looking for her.
Paradise police said they found the body of 50-year-old Stephanie Chalmers just before 9 a.m. below the eastern rim of Butte Creek Canyon Rim west of the intersection of Bille Road and Cliff Drive.
Foul play is not suspected.
Chalmers, who was developmentally disabled, had been missing since Thursday morning after she wandered away from a residential care facility off Forty Oaks Lane.
She was found Saturday in steep terrain and in heavy brush.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of her death.
