PALO CEDRO, Calif. - A vehicle pursuit turned deadly in Palo Cedro on Wednesday morning just after 11:30.
According to the CHP, a Shasta County Sheriff's deputy saw a motorcycle going northbound on Deschutes Road at speeds over 80 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone.
When the deputy tried to stop the vehicle, the motorcyclist, identified as Casey Crye, 33, of Anderson, turned onto Maynard Road and accelerated.
As Crye neared Rolling Hills Drive, the deputy said he drifted off of the road to the right and struck a vinyl fence east of the roadway. He was ejected and died.
The CHP's Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team investigated the scene and will be handling the collision investigation.
