A gunman opened fire at the Fort Hood military post in Texas on Wednesday, killing three people and wounding 16 before committing suicide. Take a look at some of the worst mass shootings in U.S. history.

Nov. 5, 2009: Major Nidal Hasan, a psychologist with the U.S. Army, killed 13 soldiers and wounded 32 others at Fort Hood, Texas. Hasan was convicted of 13 counts of murder and 32 counts of attempted murder, and a military jury has recommended the death penalty.
