TECH-Instagram-Web-Profiles
Photo-sharing app Instagram has attracted more than 100 million users by encouraging people to snap pictures with their smartphones, dress them up with filters and share them with friends. In the two years since Instagram launched, it's been a mobile-only network for an increasingly mobile society. Now that's about to change. Instagram announced Monday it will be adapting user photos and data into Web-based profiles for people to enjoy from laptops or desktops.

MONEY-campaign-finance
The tab for the 2012 election is breaking records, with $4.2 billion raised through Sunday on the races for the White House and Congress. When all the numbers roll in, some $6 billion could be spent on the election, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Never before has so much money flowed into federal races. Much of it comes from the unlimited fundraising power of so-called independent groups, including super PACs. By comparison, around $3.8 billion -- an eye-popping amount on its own -- was raised for the 2008 election.

Among the questions about how Mitt Romney would pay for his $5 trillion tax plan is whether he would curb the biggest tax break of all: the largely invisible tax savings workers get when their employer provides health insurance.
MONEY-obama-romney-poor
One wants to strengthen the nation's existing safety net. The other wants to overhaul it. President Barack Obama and challenger Mitt Romney have vastly different views on how to help the 46.2 million Americans in poverty and the more than 30 million people who are near poor.

lake-victoria-hyacinth-weavers
Lake Victoria, Africa's largest lake, has been plagued by water hyacinth plants for over two decades. While its flowers can be beautiful its foliage can grow to cover large swaths of the waters in a dense green mat of leaves that choke the shoreline of fish. Fishermen often struggle each day for a meager catch, but an entrepreneurial weaver has found that the invasive plant can be a free source of material for the area's women who make handicrafts.
