Neighbors on C Street concerned after stabbing

REDDING, Calif. - A 48-year-old Redding woman was stabbed while walking her dog Sunday night around 10:16 p.m. on C Street. The suspect is still on the loose and Secret Witness is offering a reward for anyone with valuable information.

Redding police said 48-year-old Kari Christensen was walking her dog late in the evening in front of her apartment on 3140 C St., when a man approached her from behind and stabbed her in her chest. The suspect then fled the scene.

Christensen suffered minor injuries but Redding police are looking for the suspect. Pete Varila, a neighbor said things seem to be getting worse.

"She doesn't deserve to be stabbed like this. I'm really shocked," he said. "We've had other crimes at night people breaking into cars all the time and people digging in the dumpsters making threats."

Varila said he is worried for his 14-year-old daughter since the suspect was never caught.

"Don't let her walk at night and if it is getting after dark I walk her past the empty lot because you just don't know who's out there," said Varila. "I don't know what else they can do around here it's just a bad neighborhood."

The suspect was described as a white or Hispanic male about 40 years old, 6-feet-tall, average build, short dark hair. Secret witness is offering up to a $ 5,000 reward for anyone with important information.
