Police respond to report of shots fired at downtown motel

CHICO, Calif. - Chico police responded to an attempted armed robbery of marijuana in a downtown Chico motel.

It happened about 6:45 a.m. at the Heritage Inn at Broadway and West 8th Streets. 

A group of five white men with guns and dark clothing had kicked in the door to a motel room according to police reports.   

Investigators say one person was inside the room, where police found a bullet in the wall and another was confronted in the parking lot.
They were not hurt, and were able to run to a nearby gas station.
