Police search for hit and run driver who injured a bicyclist

OROVILLE, Calif. - Oroville Police are asking for the public's help in locating the driver in a hit and run accident that injured a bicyclist.  They're looking for a 1994 or newer model Ford Taurus 4-door silver sedan.  The vehicle was described as missing the rear bumper with passenger side damage, including the side mirror.  

The collision happened on Friday, August 16 at 4:43 p.m. at the intersection of Oro Dam Boulevard and Lincoln Boulevard.  Witnesses described a silver colored 4-door sedan that left the scene of the collision after colliding into a motorized bicycle which was operated by 53-year-old Oroville resident Wayne P. Freeman.

Officers learned Freeman was westbound Oro Dam Blvd along the #2 lane operating his motorized bicycle crossing through the intersection at Lincoln Boulevard on a green light.

The 4-door sedan was eastbound Oro Dam Boulevard and turned northbound Lincoln Boulevard when the sedan collided into Freeman.

Witnesses told police the vehicle failed to stop for the red light.  Freeman was transported to Enloe Medical Center where he was treated for head trauma and released the next day.
