Police: Woman brain dead after motorcycle accident

REDDING, Calif. - A 26-year-old woman was brain-dead after a crash at a busy Redding intersection Thursday afternoon. The driver responsible for the accident has been arrested for driving under the influence of prescription drugs.

According to Redding Police the woman was on a motorcycle when a driver in a white Honda sedan ran a red light causing the collision.

Officers said she was transported to a hospital where she was declared brain dead.

The accident took place at the intersection of Placer and Buenaventura boulevard.

Police will be closing the area at 6:45 p.m. for about 45 minutes. They are asking motorists to use alternative streets.
