Vice President Joe Biden is on Capitol Hill this hour to meet with Senate Democrats, and Senate aides said he was there to build support for gun legislation
The vice president was attending the Democratic Caucus meeting.
Biden led a panel designated by President Barack Obama to look into the issue of gun violence after the Dec. 14 school shooting in Newtown, Conn., which killed 27 including 20 students.
Two weeks ago Obama proposed reinstating an assault weapons ban, limiting gun magazine capacity, and expanding the type of gun sales requiring background checks. The president also signed a series of executive actions. Obama will take his gun violence agenda on the road to Minnesota on Monday.
