Purse-snatcher strikes in Target parking lot

REDDING, Calif. - A woman was robbed in broad daylight Sunday afternoon outside the Redding Target store.

It happened around 3:15 p.m. in the parking lot of Target at Dana Drive and Churn Creek Road.

The victim, 57-year-old Sylvania Vines of Redding, was walking toward her car when a man came from behind and pulled her purse away.

He ran off to a car driven by another man.

Vines chased him for about 50 yards but couldn't catch him.  The suspect fled in a white 2-door sedan.

The suspect is described as a white man approximately 20 years old, 5'10", 180 pounds, brown hair.  He was wearing a baseball cap backwards on his head.

Vines told KRCR News Channel 7 she felt someone lurking behind her at the time, but was afraid to run off because she might look foolish.

Her advice to other shoppers is to trust your instincts and don't worry about looking foolish.

If you have information about the purse-snatching, call Redding Police.
