Redding CHP Officer Case Put on Hold Again

REDDING, Calif. - A Redding California Highway Patrol Officer was back in court Monday morning, but the judge put the case on hold again at the request of his Defense Attorney.

45-year-old Gerald "Gary" Harris faces thirteen felony counts, including possession of assault weapons, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of explosives. He is also being charged with a misdemeanor for embezzlement.

Harris is also being investigated in connection with child pornography, but no official charges have been filed against him.

Investigators told Gazzigli that they would have a final decision on the rest of their investigation by Monday's court date, but that didn't happen. So, Gazzigili asked the judge to put the case on hold again until it wraps up, which was granted.

We talked with CHP Lieutenant Frederick. He told us their investigation is finished. Their report is now in the hands of the Shasta County District Attorney, where they will decide whether or not to press further charges.

Harris is scheduled to be back in court July 11th.
