Redding Fire Department gives to community through Stuff the Bus

REDDING, Calif. - The Redding Fire Department is making it convenient for people to donate gifts to the Salvation Army this holiday season.

Seven of the department's eight fire stations are drop-off locations for this year's Stuff the Bus.

The big live event at the Chico Mall and Crown Motors in Redding is only two weeks away, on Dec. 4.

Fire Engineer Mike Lowrey said the department has given back to the community for several years and is a prime location for those wanting to donate a toy on their way home from work.

"A lot of the calls that we go on we see children that are living in certain situations underprivileged so to speak. So for us it's kind of a good way to give back to the community and we can do that as a whole with this toy drive," said Lowrey.

The only fire station without a barrel is the location on Airport Road.

The department also plans to be out at the live event at Crown Motors, along with an engine for visitors to check out up close and in person.

You can drop off toys any time from now to Dec. 4 at several locations throughout the Northstate. To find the closest one to you, click here for the full listing.
