REDDING, Calif. - A Redding man brutally stabbed by his nephew celebrates his birthday as he continues to heal at a rehabilitation center.
Doctor Ron Zufall, a close friend of Bob's, visited him for his birthday Thursday afternoon. He told us he is looking great and is determined to keep getting better.
Zufall said Bob loves all the letters and cards he's been getting and that they encourage him to stay positive.
He says Bob might have a long road to recovery ahead of him, but is making steady progress everyday.
His daughter, Dawn, said the rehabilitation center is working on getting him back to eating and drinking solid foods. She said his wounds are starting to heal and the normal color of his face is coming back.
68 year old Bob Watson was stabbed several times in his home on Boston Avenue on June 8th.
His wife, 66 year old Candace Watson, was also stabbed multiple times. She was found dead in the garage of their home.
30 year old Cody Nash of Portland, Candace's nephew, was back in a Shasta County Courtroom Thursday morning. The case was put on hold because the lead prosecutor is out of the office.
Nash pleaded not guilty last month, even though investigators say he admitted slashing the Redding couple with a knife as a way to get up the guts to kill himself.
Nash is expected back in court July 26th when a decision to move forward to a preliminary hearing will be made.
