Redding Police locate carjacking suspect

REDDING, Calif. - A suspect wanted since allegedly eluding police at Win River Rancheria in June has been arrested.

John Delevati, 29, was wanted for carjacking, spousal abuse, and making criminal threats.

Police found Delevati on the 2300 block of Sacramento Avenue in Redding Monday morning.

He ran away and officers began combing the area. A CHP helicopter was brought in to assist with the search. Delevati was found down the street in a different home.

Police say Delevati was driving a stolen 2000 Ford Expedition on June 4th at on Highway 273. When officers tried to stop him he drove to the west end of Win River Rancheria and ran away. He was able to avoid capture.

He had prior warrants for carjacking, spousal abuse, and criminal threats.

Delevati had also been previously arrested for carjacking in 2011.
