BUTTE VALLEY, Calif. - Federal officials said animals are being mistreated at a Northstate wildlife foundation and some changes are needed.
PETA has released portions of a United States Department of Agriculture inspection report with various allegations against the Barry R. Kirshner Wildlife Foundation in Butte Valley.
In the report is a list of items needing to be corrected, including providing the animals with proper veterinary care and clean drinking water. Food items in the site's kitchen were found with mold.
The investigation was conducted after a complaint, filed by PETA, outlined numerous incidents of animal abuse reported by former volunteers.
Multiple calls to the Kirshner Foundation were not returned before deadline of this report.
