REDDING, Calif. - A man died at the hospital after a shooting Sunday night near Redding's Alta Mesa Park.
Dispatchers got the call at 7:04 p.m. that someone had been shot, and responded to the 2300 block of Saturn Skyway.
The investigation revealed a man had been shot at Alta Mesa Park. Police at the scene said a 20 year-old man was shot in the torso while seated in a white Jeep Cherokee. The victim later died at Mercy Medical Center.
Officers found the victim in an alley in front of a home off Suzette Avenue, off Alta Mesa Way.
Redding Police said two men had approached the victim as he sat in the car. The men exchanged words and one of the suspects shot the victim.
The commotion roused many neighbors out of their homes.
Crystal Kerby, who lives in the area watched the investigation unfold.
"We were in the house, me and my brother and my kids, and he heard screaming so he came in the house and told me and we heard the sirens so I came out front. I've never seen anything like this on my street since I've lived here.
Police have not determined a motive for the shooting.
A CHP helicopter was also used in the initial search.
The suspects are described as a white male adult and a Hispanic male adult. Both subjects were in their late teens or early twenties. The white suspect possibly has acne scars.
