Shingletown man dies in SUV crash

SHINGLETOWN, Calif. - A Shingletown man died after crashing his SUV.

The California Highway Patrol said Rodney Eugene Taylor was driving a Chevy Tahoe east of Shingletown on Deer Flat Road when his car veered off the pavement around 11:45 p.m. Friday.

Officers said Taylor, 35, crashed into a large pine tree, causing significant damage to the vehicle. The CHP said Taylor was not wearing his seat belt and was declared dead when emergency personnel arrived.

Officers are still investigating whether alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.
