It was one of those games, a dreary Friday night with the season coming to a close, two teams with little to play for playing down to the times and the circumstances. One of those nights where a lot of people just want the game to be over and they have an energy level akin to a body in repose. And then there’s a guy like Amir Johnson, who had a game for the ages because that’s what the veteran Raptors big man does. He treats every game with equal importance and there will seldom be a question about his effort. Johnson had a career-high 21 rebounds — eclipsing an old personal record of 16 that he tied just last week — as the Raptors finally found some consistent energy in the fourth quarter to subdue the Charlotte Bobcats 92-78 in front of a larger-than-expected Air Canada Centre crowd announced at 17,514. Johnson became the first Raptor since 2011 — Joey Dorsey, against Milwaukee — to have 20 rebounds in a game and is just the eighth player in franchise history to get to that level. The 20th was so typical of Johnson it should be on his all-time video reel.
